Christmas and New Year Walks On Bodmin Moor

A New Year Begins at Camel Prospect!

It hasn’t really felt like much of a Winter yet down here in Cornwall. We’ve had pretty mild times so far, and some lovely sunny days to enjoy a few strolls on Bodmin Moor over the  Christmas Period. That’s where we found the Cheesewring- an amazing outcrop of precariously balanced giant stones. In the next week we even got out on the Stand Up Paddle Boards and Kayaks which felt amazing in the middle of December!

We’re currently taking a lot of new bookings and enquiries for 2017 so  keep an eye on our calander as we update it and if there’s a date that you’ve got an eye just let us know and we’ll do our best to make sure you can come down when it suits you best.

Here’s to a great year of fun in Cornwall ahead for all our visitors!

Fantastic fun cycling at Lanhydrock!

We recently checked out the new cycle trails in the grounds at Lanhydrock house which opened this spring. What a fantastic afternoon! I was blown away by how magic it was to be weaving my way through the canopies of ancient woodland. The quality of the tracks was really high, with each journey feeling well thought out with beautiful views all the way. The designers have done a great job of catering for all abilities of cycling as well, with an assortment of different coloured routes to choose from. The main green trails, which are the entry level tracks, would make for the ideal family bike ride, whereas the various blue routes which branch off give the more adventurous spirits a good option for a little more speed. Then there are the red routes, which provide for the more experienced riders or any adrenaline junkies out there!

You can bring your own bikes in which case the trail is free to use, or if you want to hire bikes for the day or  half day there is a great new cycle hire centre at Lanydrock. There is a wonderful cafe to retire to after your exertions, serving up the wholesome lunches, cracking cakes, and cream teas which the National Trust do so well! And if after refueling you’re up for something a little different, there’s still the fairy-tale historic house to have a look around. Lanhdyrock house tells undoubtedly one of the finest preserved stories of life as it was a couple of hundred years ago that the country has to offer. All in all, I couldn’t recommend a visit highly enough- it was one of the most memorable adventures of 2014 so far!

Bluebell Season!

Its definitely a great time to be out on the trails around Wadebridge at the moment with all the spring flowers at their most majestic. I’ve been taking every available chance to explore the many networks of footpaths that shoot off from the Camel trail and I’ve been blown away by the colours I’ve been rewarded with! There are vibrant pinks, bursting yellows, and the snowiest whites. But more striking than all else are the carpets of bluebells that seem to inhabit every available stretch of woodland. Its a lovely time to be taking it all in.
